| Moving up in Sit and Gos |

If you’ve been playing sit-and-gos successfully for a while, you may be ready to move on up to the next level. Some players choose sit-and-gos somewhat indiscriminately, playing an $11 sit-and-go now, a $33 sit-and-go since they happen to notice there’s a seat left, etc. You will probably have better results if you approach sit-and-gos systematically, playing a single level of buy in until you have been successful enough that you are prepared to move up. Here are some signs it may be time to move up in sit-and-go buy in. You are Cashing ConsistentlyPoker Rooms Online You don’t have to win every sit-and-go you play, but you should be cashing in at least half of them. Remember that an average player should expect to cash about a third of the time, since there are nine players and three cash spots in each sit-and-go. If you are cashing a third of the time or less, you’re probably not ready to move up. If you are cashing half of the time or more, it may be time to consider higher stakes. You are Getting BoredIf you find that you are not playing your best game in your sit-and-gos, playing too loose and making questionable calls, for example, it may be because the stakes aren’t high enough. If winning or losing your sit-and-go will not have any noticeable effect on your bankroll either way, there may not be enough at stake to hold your interest. Moving to the next level may breathe new life into your game. The Next Level Looks SoftIt’s not a bad idea to observe some of the play at the next sit-and-go level and see what you think. If you feel that the level of play is not noticeably better than the level you are playing at now, you may want to take a shot at that level. It can be even more advantageous for you to take some notes on the players at that next level so that you can have an edge before you even start playing. Multi-TablingAn alternative to moving up or even as a move concurrent with moving up is multi-tabling. If you can maintain your focus playing more than table at once, this is a good way to increase your win rate. Keep in mind that if you make the final two or three players on both tables things are going to be a little bit hectic, as you will almost always be facing a decision at one table or the other. |
