Rush Poker is a new and exciting game introduced by Full Tilt Poker. In Rush Poker is the perfect game for the face paced action junkie because of its unique concept. As soon as you fold a hand in Rush Poker, you are instantly moved to a new table a dealt a new hand. There is no waiting time, which is very appealing to a lot of players. You could be sitting at table A in seat 7, fold your hand and immediately move to table B and get dealt a new hand. Until your turn actually comes up on table A, no one from that table knows you actually folded your hand yet. Exciting isn’t it?
Table Image
Because you’re constantly moving from table to table, and so is everyone else, table image is irrelevant. Traditional poker strategy always includes components of table image (your own, and of others). In Rush poker strategy, you can just forget about it!
Reading Opponents
Again, because everyone is moving around all the time, Rush Poker doesn’t do much for you in terms of collecting data over time. Hand history is simply not present. You can figure out someone’s betting patterns, play style, positional habits, etc. There are still some cues you can turn to, such as an opponent’s chip stack, the value of the blinds, etc. Poker players will still go all in out of desperation, and out of need to survive.
Winning Poker Strategy
We’ve established that two very important poker strategy elements can’t really be used in Rush Poker. Table image is useless, and reading opponents based on historical behaviors is impossible. On the bright side, everyone has the same disadvantage. The question is how to turn this handicap into an advantage and win big?
Patience is a key ingredient to Rush Poker success. Do take the time to wait for premium hands before jumping in. Remember, if you fold 10 hands in a row, no one knows about it. They can’t tell you’re playing tight, and this is good because it means you can actually play as tight as you want. Go in with big hands and big raises, or don’t go in at all. Fishes will still be fishes. They’ll play strange hands in hopes to get lucky. When you jump in with a strong hand, these guys will pay you off. The vast majority of the earnings you’ll make in Rush Poker will come from small fishes, even when you can’ t tell them apart.
There are indicators that someone could have a good hand. For instance, when you from early position, and someone from late stays in, you have to consider that they had the option to “quick fold” long before their turn came up, yet they didn’t. Why? Does this mean they are strong? Does it mean they’re a fish trying to pull off some kind of a move? Are they seizing an opportunity to play hand with few players involved? Are they in the blinds and already priced in? To they have the right odds to call? Consider their chip stack in relation to the pot, the blinds, and your own chip stack and this could help answer some of these questions. The bottom line is that they’re staying in the hand for a reason. If you’ve been playing tight it then you should have a good starting hand. See some cards before deciding what your next move will be.

The Big Blind
Like all poker games, the big blind position is special. In Rush Poker, it’s the only position from which you cannot “quick fold” until you are facing a raise. Because players already have money invested, it’s from the BB that they’ll take more risks. It’s the spot where players will typically be the most loose from. If you’re not sitting far from the BB with a great starting hand, this is an opportunity to trap, or to make a small raise and grow the pot. You don’t want to over bet and scare away the BB, but am minimum raise would certainly keep most players in the hand.
When you’re in the BB position with a great hand, this is a good spot to make a bold move and make it look like you’re trying to steal a pot, especially when you have some limpers.
Number of players at the table
If you’re playing a full ring game, you can expect people to be a lot tighter overall. If you’re player a 6 player game, you can expect that players are a lot more aggressive. It’s no different than in a standard Texas Holdem setting. Table position concept still apply so you can expect players to be more loose in late position, and tighter in early position, except that the degree of aggressive play is significantly greater with less players at the table. You’ll find more people in pots with marginal hands at 6 player settings. Overall, it’s much easier (and affective) to set traps at the shorthand table.
